과거진행형과 일반 과거형
past continuous: an ongoing action in the past
simple past: an event that interrupts that action.
과거에 뭔가 진행되던 일에 대해서 과거 진행형을 쓰고
그 때 발생한, 진행중이던 일을 멈춘 사건에 대해서는 일반적인 과거형을 쓰자.

While the robber was escaping from the bank, he got caught in the revolving door.
강도가 은행을 탈출하려고 할 때, 회전문에 걸렸다.
As Jake was running toward the ball, he tripped and kicked it into the wrong goal.
제이크가 공을 향에 달려가고 있을 때, 그는 발을 헛디디고, 공을 차서 자살골을 넣었다.
The Planets were performing a song when the lights went out.
플래닛이 공연을 하고 있었는데 전등이 나갔다.
