- keep in touch <--> lose touch

- agree on things  --> 뭔가에 동의할 때. c.f., 보통 사람에 동의할 때 agree with someone 

- have a blast! == have fun

- get the most out of --> 본전을 뽑다  You should get the most out of your vacation!

- take advantage of --> (나쁜 의미로) 이용하다  She used to take advantage of man-oriented environment of her office. (?)

- make use of == utilize

- meticulous == detail-oriented

- cherish --> 소중하게 여기다

- extrovert <--> introvert  == 내향적인 사람 <--> 외향적인 사람

- I'm not so much of a diligent person.  

- I can't let go of something.

- sunny side up --> 계란 반숙

- There is no use of ~ing. --> 아이고 의미없다

formal <--> informal 한 단어의 pair 를 2개 찾아서 문장 하나 씩 써보기

1. because of --- due to

Because of oversleep, I missed the bus to my hometown.

Due to oversleep, it was impossible to proceed the schedule as planed.

2. tell --- inform

I'm so sorry to tell you but you are fired now.

I'm so sorry to inform you that the company has decided to lay you off.

1. say  vs.  tell

tell 은 직접목적어 수용, say 는 to 필요

I told you

I said to him

tell은 inform, instruct의 뜻 (알려줄 때, 가르칠 때)

He said to me 'Good morning' (o)

He told me 'Good morning' (x)

tell은 목적보어로 to부정사를 취할 수 있음, say는 안됨. (to 2번 나오면 이상함)

I told you to do something

I said to you to do something (x)

둘 다 if나 whether로 시작하는 간접의문문을 만들지 못함. 

이 경우 ask가 의미가 더 와닿는 것 같음. (~ 인지 아닌지 물었다.)

2. talk vs. speak

talk이 조금 informal

sense, nonsense 의 의미 (?) --> talk

speak는 프레젠테이션 같은 일방적인 의사전달, 격식을 갖추었을 때 

영어를 할 줄 알아요! 이런 경우는 speak

전화상에서 바꿔달라고 할때 --> 역시 speak

음 숙제 엄청 어렵군

교수님이 말했다(said), 자기 영어 할 줄 안다고 (speak)

학생들은 서로 얘기했다(talk), 교수님은 한글을 잘 

The professor said to us he can speak both Korean and English.

I really wanted to tell him that 

he can speak but he is not good at understanding.
